What it is

CWM 400 is a compressible down sleeping bag with a black shell, blue lining and supplied storage sack. This record follows the current official CWM 400 page and does not combine figures from similarly named CW400, CWZ400 or Snowbird variants.

Why the design matters

A sleep system must balance packed volume, insulation, internal room and moisture management. The CWM 400 uses down baffles and a shape that narrows near the upper body while retaining a more rectangular lower section. The two-way zip provides another way to manage entry and ventilation.

Verified specification record

  • Insulation: duck down
  • Fill power: 650, as listed on the selected official page
  • Shell and lining: 20D 400T nylon
  • Zip: YKK two-way zip
  • Sleeping-bag size: 220 × 85cm
  • Storage size: 35 × 18 × 18cm
  • Selected-page listed weight: 0.9kg
  • Temperature figures: comfort high 13.2°C; comfort 4.7°C; limit −0.4°C; extreme −15.8°C

Temperature ratings are not interchangeable

Comfort, limit and extreme describe different thresholds and must not be reduced to one “works at” temperature. User metabolism, clothing, mat insulation, humidity, wind, shelter and testing standard all change the result. Extreme is a survival-related boundary, not a normal sleeping recommendation.

Down needs care

Down performance depends on loft and dryness. Compression is for transport rather than indefinite storage. The bag should be aired and stored according to current care instructions, and the selected zip side, size and fill specification should be confirmed before purchase.

What ChinoMuse has not verified

ChinoMuse has not slept in, weighed, compressed, washed or laboratory-tested this bag. Warmth, fit, moisture resistance, zip behaviour and long-term loft remain untested by ChinoMuse.
