What it is

The M Edition is an 87-key tenkeyless mechanical keyboard styled around the visual language of early personal computers. It connects by Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz wireless or USB and includes a separate pair of large Super Buttons that can be mapped without opening software.

Why the design matters

The keyboard does not reproduce one historical machine exactly. Beige and grey keycaps, rotary controls, indicator lights and blue accent keys create a recognisable period reference, while the removable switches, wireless connections and programmable controls place it in a contemporary desk setup.

Battery and charging record

8BitDo lists a rechargeable 2000mAh lithium-ion battery, up to 200 hours of use and approximately four hours of charging. These are manufacturer figures. Connection type, sleep behaviour, firmware and use of controls can change actual duration.

What the included controls do

The independent panel provides connection and volume controls without relying on hidden key combinations. One set of Dual Super Buttons is included and up to four sets are supported by the current product page. Mapping and macros can also be managed through Ultimate Software V2.
