The larger body accommodates a thermal-transfer path and a shaftless compartment for compatible media. Thermal transfer changes the consumable
The label and ribbon must work as a pair. Width, sensing method, coating, storage conditions and intended surface all matter. NIIMBOT promotes fade resistance of eight to ten years with carbon ribbon, but that is a manufacturer claim under unstated or product-specific conditions, not a universal guarantee. Exposure to heat, ultraviolet light, chemicals, abrasion and adhesive ageing can change the result.
