What it is

Hub M3 is Aqara’s multi-protocol smart-home hub. It can coordinate Aqara Zigbee devices, take part in Matter systems and provide Thread border-router functions, while connecting to the home network over dual-band Wi-Fi or Ethernet through PoE.

Why the design matters

The compact square enclosure separates network coordination from individual sensors and controllers. A supplied bracket supports alternative placement, and the choice between 5V USB-C input and PoE can reduce cable clutter where suitable Ethernet infrastructure already exists.

Verified specification record

  • PoE input: 48V DC, 0.27A
  • Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz
  • Zigbee and Thread: IEEE 802.15.4
  • Bluetooth: 5.1
  • Operating range: −10°C to 50°C; 0–95% RH, non-condensing
  • Box: hub, manual, USB-A to USB-C cable, screws and anchors, bracket

Protocol support is not universal compatibility

A Matter controller, Thread border router, Zigbee hub and Wi-Fi access point perform different jobs. A device can support one standard without exposing every function to every platform. Before purchase, check the exact accessory, controller, app, region and firmware path rather than relying on protocol names alone.

Power and placement

The cited specification lists both low-voltage DC and PoE input. The supplied-components list includes a USB cable but not a power adapter. Ethernet cabling, PoE source, ventilation and mounting method should match the current Aqara instructions.
